As I was reading through some of the many and varied comments I got a real sense that God is sifting
and exposing the real issues of our hearts. What is it that matters most to us? God has consistenly used people who are outside of the norm and those around and about them have been offended by them.
I got a real impression that what God is doing is sifting his people like he did with Gideon before the battle with the Midianites. He sent home the fearful and others besides and the ones that He used were the men who lapped the water with their tongues "like dogs" not exactly parlour behaviour. I believe we are on the verge of a major move of God and He is finding out those who are with Him and ready for the work. If we really want to see God move in our nation today our comfort zones have to go! Are we serious about taking this nation for God, we have to do it His way. As we can see, our way has not worked. Let's stop arguing and give God a chance.

Having watch the recent events from Lakeland ie July 2008 the "shows " where Todd had come back after "resting" which just happened to coincide with him and his staff being able to give a properly authenticated record of "miracles" I seriously wonder where the spritual discernment of believers has evaporated to and the intellectual and cognitive powers that as believers we should be equipped with have disappeared as well!!!.What I saw was the well worn routine of repetitive choruses ,chants ,jerking and body movements accompanied by people being "slain in the Spirit" for which there is absolutely NO foundation in Scriptures at all.The absurdity of Todd Bentley pointing at people for them to fall and shouting BAM!! was bad enough but the blatant attempts to push people over and then quickly moving away if it failed was apparent for all to see !!Not only that but the sight of a clearly bewildered autistic teenager being subjected to this charade was even more nauseating.
When will the Church wake up!!!?????

Hi guys, it's really good to read such thought provoking comments.
I'd like to ask if anyone knows where this outpouring / healing move is happening here in the UK? I've heard about things happening in Dudley, N Ireland, Glasgow, London, and Southampton.
On a local level, one guy from my church has been healed from a broken back, another healed of depression. It's not some random bloke healing them - it's God. Their faith in God has increased hugely, they're full of joy & peace, they're praying for others in Jesus name.... This tells me there is goodness (Godness!) in what's happening. I'm reminded of John 9 when Jesus' miracles caused such controversy. Why not speak to people with healing testimonies yourself or go to a meeting and find out what's going on. Being there is a better way of testing it out than watching on TV, ustream or even webchattin haha;-) (post up some meetings people!) every blessing.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." 2 Timothy 3:16 - 4:4. The leaders for the Florida ‘power’ persist in their way, hiding behind excuses for disobeying God’s commandment. They &all their faithful followers–so many are unsuspecting, undiscerning pastors-are bringing many people into bondage, not into freedom which they imagine in those lying signs, wonders, miracles. What offends the mind of Christ are the words and actions which do not feed off Christ and seek justification by means not found in God’s Word. It’s not a popular truth that the Devil prowls around and seeks to bring deception to the world and God’s people by subtly and cleverly changing God’s Word to make ‘it’ seem acceptable, attractive &appear to be the ‘real thing’– that’s what counterfeit is! The Bible is NOT silent on this! God has opened my eyes about theToronto blessing which I was taught to accept: http://www.bereanpublishers.com/Deception_in_the_Church/And_ We_All_Fall_Down.htm.The Devil wants to steal, kill &destroy. The Lord Jesus says: "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" John 10. Don’t listen to every spirit, but the Holy Spirit: "He will guide you into all truth...He will glorify Me [Jesus], for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you" John 16:13-15.

DThanks for all the wonderful comments on the truth of this outpouring of God's love I haven't got God tv so haven't witnessed what is happening in Florida. It is enough to hear! I have attended worship services here and witnessed a Pastor who has opened his heart to this outpouring of love and seeks to share it with everyone who is open to it. I am excited about it. It's not something to argue about. Just believe it is God!

Barbara.

Hi Barbara, You're right that we shouldn't argue, but it is only right, not wrong, to practise Biblical and spiritual discernment. You can read in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 the command to test that is to make a thorough examination of actions/teaching/prophecy –of anything that purports to come from God Himself: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”(NKJV) I cannot read your heart - only God can, but you appear to be very earnest for God. We should want the best for each other as members of the Body of Christ, but we simply cannot accept anything and everything as coming from God!

If you are eager for the things of God, please could I refer you to http://www.newchristian.org.uk/mixtureinthechurch.html The Reality of Mixture in the Church? This is written by Peter Horrobin, president of Ellel Ministries (USA) and International Director of Ellel Ministries. In it, he teaches about the important place of spiritual discernment in the Body of Christ and about the Lakeland “revival”. If you want to go deeper in your walk with God, the Bible is crucial in the believer’s life. The message here goes beyond the superficial, and I would encourage anyone who believes in the importance of knowing the truth (not mere words but spiritual truth) in God’s Word would read this prayerfully and ask God to give you His wisdom and understanding.

No one spoke more about truth than the Lord Jesus Christ – go see how often the word ‘truth’ is mentioned! And He said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in my word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”(NKJV)
With love in Christ.

I've spent a lot of time over the past few weeks investigating Bentley. I've sadly had to conclude that what is happening in Lakeland is basically just crowd manipulation and mass hypnosis. Coupled with that. Todd's theology is unsound, his methods are violent, and there's no proof of any healings. Please avoid him at all costs!

I hope that day will come when people will make more effort to support those who try their best.
You will find that more people today make great effort and passion to knock down those who try to bring best in people but yet you will find that same passion not exist to knock down those who bring worst in Us.
You will find that Todd Bentley is the one who risk his life against those who hate him.
You will not find that Hollywood film makers had any similar problems.
They are celebrated with all this dark messages who constantly bombarding our mind and our children’s minds, future generations.
People are feed up from darkness; Todd’s message is…With God we can turn light ON and move the mountains, no matter if we are not perfect.
Todd Bentley had success despite all odds with his looks, mind and past.
For someone He is the work of devil and for someone is work of GOD… depends what you want to see…

Best Regards
