There was a time many years back when Kathy was up there with Amy as a purveyor of pop CCM but clearly today the singer is happy in the middle of the road with just the occasional divergence into jazz. This collection offers 14 tracks of traditional hymns including "I Surrender All" and "Be Thou My Vision" coupled with other more recent worship songs such as "As The Deer" and "Because He Lives" provide the listener with a peaceful and contemplative milieu in which to appreciate the closeness of God. The tone throughout is restful and meditative. No sudden loud surprises in the exquisitely clear production, no up-tempo rhythms with crashing cymbals and pounding drums, just Kathy's beautiful crystal voice wandering through a forest glade on a sunny day, considering the beauty all around and praising her Saviour. The light, shade and glimpses of the sun through the leaves are provided by the acoustic guitar, piano and string quartet backing. An understated vocal performance never demands the full power or range of her voice, but gentle, simple tones show appreciation of all her God means to her after her many years in Christian music. An album of music from someone who is at peace with herself and grateful to her Lord for her life, no more elaboration of sound is needed to provide additional emphasis to this lyrical statement of gratitude.
