Isaac Peabody is a singer/songwriter based in the Seattle area. His music mostly falls into the indie-folk or blues category but he loves to experiment with different sounds and genres. 'Indigo' is his second project and is a follow-up to the 2014 mini-album 'Steps'. To my ear Isaac has a style and sound that admirers of Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson will immediately tune into. 'Indigo' starts with the upbeat "Let's Pretend" which is a tale about the need we all have for a "time out" from the pressures of the adult world done to a backdrop of acoustic guitar, minor percussion and harmonious backing vocals. This is followed by the title track. This is even more stripped back and bare at the start until the chorus. It's a song about a personal journey in faith with its ups and downs but I find at times lyrics like "Indigo a deeper shade of hope" to be a bit confusing. "Prayer" is a thoughtful arrangement of acoustic guitar and voice stark in some ways. The lyrics refer to something we all need to do more of - pray - and the conversations we need to have with the Almighty. My taste in music usually is much more rock-driven and electronic, but the more I listened to this mini-album it's gentle touch and sincere message hit home deeper and further into my thoughts. It deserves repeated listening.
