I used to listen to songs by Lenwhen I was just a little boy, particularly one album that I know which includes the tracks Freedom Road and Mary Mary. 20 to 25 years later these songs are still in my head and I have been looking to get then for a few years now. Thanks Len your work in the ministry.

In 1973 I had the privilage of meeting Len. It was an amazing situation. As a VERY young Christian I joined my mate, also very young in the faith (both were 17yrs old) we visited my brother in High Wycombe, near London. My brother was giving us both a tough time about our newly found faith.
Anyway, by chance..... (God incidence) we noticed Christian stickers on Len's gate post and decided to introduce ourselves, not knowing who Len was. He and his wife invited us inside and really encouraged us! We told Len that we had arrived in London cos we wanted to visit "Spree 73" a Christian festival at Wmbley. Len offered to take us. We discovered that he was a Pastor and he even drove the mini bus! Both Steve and I commented that Len wasn't much of a singer..... Later to be proved wrong!
Not only did Len encourage us and drive us to London, we even found ourselves on the front row on Wembley, watching Jonny Cash etc.
Several months later, we discovered Len was a singer and was singing in Newcastle where we were from. We went along and to our amazement, Len even recognised us. We felt real cool! Obviously, we bought his album and actually really loved his music.
Steve is now a Pastor in a Church in Sheffield. God called him soon after Spree to be an Evangelist. My path was slightly different, I became a 'Youth & Community Worker' and worked for a Christian organisation. Now my main passion is a charity that I've set up called Trans-mission Partnerships, working in Eastern Europe. (trans-mission.net)
Sorry for the long message but Len was a huge influence and encouragement for both Steve and I and I ask you to please encourage him for all he did for us. Thank you.
Pete

The Len Magee website is underway, I'm expecting the shop where all 98 of Len's songs can be sampled and downloaded, will be online by Easter.

We have still got the record "Len Magee - Highlights" (1983) which is played regularly (scratches, pops, crackle & all!!). We would love to be able to find sheet music of the songs. Also to be able to lay our hands on CDs of the original records. They contain so many thought provoking songs that it seems to be really a case of talents buried!!!

Dear Graham,
Only a Prayer away comes from Len's second album 'The Presence of your Spirit Lord' (Dove 6) This album seems to come up regularly on e-bay, which is probably your best chance of obtaining it. You can request an 'e-bay alert' which means they will e-mail you when it's available. (It may well be on the above CD, but I've so far been unable to find a copy!)

Len Magee is without doubt one of the most inspired singers of his generation and forever, with his songs being saturated with Scripture. We were privileged to hear him live when he visited Guyana in the 70's. When we moved to the US all our Len Magee music disappeared. We were able to build up the collection again by diligent searches on Ebay etc. It’s a pity Len seems to have dropped off the ends of the earth. He seems to have a son named Matt Magee who is also a recording artist with a website at http://www.mattmagee.com.au/.
