Have you ever experienced worship when the band has stopped playing and all you can hear is a wonderful blend of human voices singing in harmony? I was interested to see if Acapella Praise would produce that kind of spine-tingling effect, and it did, although not as much as I had hoped. It immediately reminded me of Glad, and leaping for the sleeve notes, I found some of the Glad team listed in the credits. It didn't work for me when they used very fussy arrangements, particularly on the two trad hymns - "All Creatures Of Our God And King", and "Crown Him with Many Crowns", but when things were kept (relatively!) simple there were some beautiful moments - "God Will Make A Way", "Think About His Love", "Joy Of My Desire", and some ethereal background vocals on a superb version of "Amazing Love" stand out as my favourites. This is excellently produced MOR worship, and although I found it rather bland and samey, a friend who is into unaccompanied singing said he could listen to it all day!
