'Is It Time?' is the second release from the Worcester -based singer/songwriter Lexie Stobie. Whereas the previous album 'Keys Of The Kingdom' was a more acoustic sounding record, this album has the benefit of a full band. There is a refreshing variety of sound and genre across this recording with some songs having a strong gospel streak, for example "All Of My Days", mixed with songs that suit the quiet times of reflection like "Garden Of Gethsemane", as well as your up beat, ever so slightly funky yet Celtic sounding "Christ Is Risen". Most songs on this album are written by the acoustic guitarist Bill Scriven who incidentally does very well in bringing some nice, technical sounding acoustic guitar to the overall sound. Lexie, although of a young age, manages to bring vocals that seem to speak of years beyond hers. However you can tell she has had a lot of influence from singers including Joss Stone and Leann Rimes. Given her young age, there are areas where I am sure she will grow in, areas such as control confidence and a sense of identity as a singer. One of my favourites of this album is Lexie's version of Delirious?' "Majesty". It's difficult to cover a song by Delirious? successfully, however Lexie's vocals do add a very beautiful touch to this original classic. It is worth keeping an eye on Lexie.

The song that takes it for me is 'All Of My Days'. I challenge anyone to listen to it and not dance around the room! A great 60s feel to it, conjuring up images of Martha and the Vandellas or Diana Ross and The Supremes. The Blues track - "Mud On The Road" - brings to mind Robert Johnson's classic "Hellhound On My Trail". Powerful lyrics in the last verse that stop the Blues from staying blue. We've got Rock, Gospel and Country as well - a plethora of musical styles. She and the band seem to be so versatile, I wonder how long it will be before the name Lexie turns into Flexie? :)

A truly uplifting cd.If you're feeling down, then the opening two tracks will lift you immediately. They may also cause you to drive too fast so be careful!!!
Well done to the whole band. Very tight playing combined with the voice of an angel. Great drum and Bass sound.

What an achievevement - to have produced two CD's before you are sixteen is incredible - but 'Is it time' shows such a change in gear from 'The Keys of the Kingdom'. The range of songs, the change in style matched by your passion to praise God in real worship is appealing to a much wider audience - I really like 'Mud on the Road' and 'Lead me to the Rock'. The vocals are more mature, and matched with the sound made by the band produces a brilliant sound...we wish you well for the Chorister of the Year Competition.
