Their debut EP 'This Is Not Our Shed' introduced [dweeb] to an unsuspecting world and illustrated what happens when you cross a Pythonesque sense of humour with some brilliant rock. 'Moose Moose Moose Chicken Moose' (henceforth to be known as 'Moose' for brevity) shows the band making excellent progress. Slowed up by a studio failure which caused the original masters to be lost and the band to record a new version, the timing couldn't be better. A tour with Andy Hunter and Steve has introduced this mad quartet to a new audience and these five songs are simply stunning. Though sometimes lyrically surreal and occasionally obtuse, these songs work. "Pirate + Copse = Quandary" which kicks things off had me walking around singing the refrain "I'm a pirate, I'm a pirate" over and over again. Strange things happen when you listen to [dweeb]. I have no idea what "Spherical Holiday" is about. I spent ages pondering the lyrics and wondering what is going on inside Tim Alford's head. Still no light shines. But the song rocks and that's what matters. "There Is No Try" is a song about grace but like all the tracks here demonstrates the band's ability to incorporate a variety of different styles into their songs. They rock, they breakdown (especially on tour with Steve) and they even get a little bit of jazzy stuff happening too! "Paintings Of A Broken Heart" is a clever description of salvation and how God feels about us. The final track has the most dubious name of a rock song ever because it's called "Section 17 Part (II) Rev. A".
