Ok, I dont go to Exeter but I was heavily involved in the CU there and UCCF and by no means were anglicans, methodist, baptist, presbyterian or other non-evangelical protestants (not mormons & catholics) were not barred from commitee positions on the CU.

Could somebody from the LCF kindly explain why Catholic, Orthodox, and non-evangelical Protestant Christians are denied freedom of speech and freedom to run for election within so-called "Christian Unions"?

Is it something to do with the fact that "Christian Unions" have an exclusively evangelical agenda, and systematically deny non-evangelical Christians an equal freedom to associate with the term "Christian"?

That would be a Christian who DOESN'T see the Bible as the final authority.

For example:
- catholics
- orthodox
- non-evangelical protestants
- quakers
- mormons
- anglicans
- methodists
- baptists

(or approximately 80% of Christians)

Yes, that about sums it up. Thus we non-evangelical Christians are Christians who don't see the Bible as the final authority.

I can't help but wonder if the LCF would support us if we sued the UCCF for discriminating against us.

It is ironic that LCF are suing VES while supporting ECU.

The name CU was "of a nature to deceive the public", because the society refused to acknowledge it had any duty to unite or indeed represent Christians. It did this by simply refusing to acknowledge anyone apart from those fitting its own narrow definition, as Christians.

I'm curious as to whether the lawyers representing the ECU are to base any case against the Students' Guild on such inaccurate information.

I can only presume that the Lawyers Christian Fellowship either are in possession of all the facts and are merely trying to mislead people or that they are extremely poor at researching cases.

If it is the latter case, I expect a rather swift end to any legal action.

Finally, the ECU are still allowed to use rooms on campus, they are just required to pay for them for the time being.

Fourth, the ECU have not had their full accounts frozen. Each university society has two accounts: number 1 and number 2. Number 1 only contains Guild funding which each society applies for once a term, and number 2 contains money from membership subscriptions, fundraising events and any donations. Only the ECU's number 1 account has been frozen pending investigation into the ECU's constitution. They are currently under investigation because their constitution does not offer equal standing to all students; something the Guild demands if the society expects to receive Guild support.
