Guitarist with Poor Old Ben, Tim Lessels, dies.

LEAD GUITARIST with mainstream Scottish band Poor Old Ben, Tim Lessels, was found dead at his home on Saturday 31st January. Tim's funeral took place at Holy Trinity Church, Elgin, on 7th February. The Tim Lessels Memorial Fund has been set up with the fund aiming to support people suffering from depression.

Poor Old Ben have received considerable critical acclaim since the release of the 2003 album 'Drawing Faces To Forget' on Benjamin Records. Towards the end of last year the band played a string of support slots from Mark Owen. The band, who will continue, are set to record a CD this year with Electric Honey Records.

Tim was the first real beat friend i ever had. I never forget him. Everytime i listen to wildhearts or megadeath i remember being at school with him

just picked out drawing faces from my collection and got it on, didn't know about tim sorry. met them all at mark owen gig in lancaster and thought they were better than mark to be frank sad to hear as i suffer from deppresion and have to manage as best i can. as its inside you , bottom line is only you can eventually get fed up of feeling rubbish, its manageable after that point. tim never got there sad to hear again andrew

I went to Tim's grave today, just to pay my respects, and all sorts of mad memories came fizzing back to the surface. This world has been a lesser place these last six years without him.

Wind tugs at me, standing here
at the crest of your hill. Birdsong
is your soundtrack now, the crash
of electric guitars long faded.

Once a torrent of pure energy
oozed from you. Now you lie
peacefully, cloaked in the
ever changing seasons.

A tangle of dandelions fight

I remember Tim, and Poor Old Ben. Still got the cd he gave me before he left us. I hope his family and band mates are doing ok. He was an increadable person!
