Comment:
It amazes me that you spent so long discussing the spiritual aspects of Life of Pi (which you felt was 'dubious') but have reduced the spiritual elements of Les Miserables to a footnote. I had never seen the musical or read the book before either, and admittedly I generally like musicals although not the 'sung through' elements - I would prefer a mixture of dialogue and songs. But the gospel story hit me again and again in watching the film - it is central to the whole thing. The music is a reflection of that message, yes, but the message is what's important. This film is massive across the world - Christians should be embracing this opportunity to discuss gospel issues with those who wouldn't normally hear.
