Thanks Simon for a fair and balanced review. The film has had much hype and the original singing was as you say an inovation which made this film all the more interesting. I have seen the stage production and it's inevitable that comparisons are made. Unlike the stage show the film does seem longer and drawn out in places. The moral aspects of forigveness and redemption are there and reflect the Valjean's experince. Thanks Simon best review of the film I have read
