Comment: HARVEST TIME (particularly the second side, i.e. the title track) must be one of the finest pieces of music in any genre ever committed to vinyl... absolutely breathtaking... the merging of modern-ish classical (the wind passages, with their Stravinsky/Vaughan Williams harmonic overtones) and advanced contemporary folk (the two guitar-driven song passages, with their clever time changes) plus the brilliant if unsettling lyrics - about the Tribulation - make it totally unique... musicianship inventive and immaculate... it repays constant re-listening, and is incredibly moving... and a lesson in how to make a song in a major key sound sadder than one in a minor key. One of my favourite records of all time. And the five love-songs on Side 1 are excellent too - and remarkably varied in style. What a band. I saw them live once (during the Hill Climbing period), and they did not disappoint. Again, I find the title track on that album particularly moving. WIWB, thanks for everything. (Trevor, are you still a tea-head?)
