Comment:
Dorothy Love Coates was in my humble opinion the greatest female singer of all time. Her phrasing and timing were uniquely soulful. She was also a great composer. My favorites, Strange Man, That's Enough and Calvary are three of the best gospel songs ever written. The Reverend Herbert Brewster once said that a gospel song should be "Bible-based and Christ-centred"; Dorothy adds a uniquely personal testimony to each song as well. I would loved to have met her. I saw her interviewed once for a UK TV documentary and she came across as the clever, wise and charming lady I expected.
