Dear Steve, thank you for your write up it has been encouraging and enlightening. I have often struggled to understand some scriptures. The people was using the temple to buy or sell goods & for ungodliness. My interpretation of the word was Jesus was mad with the people for using it like a den of thieves and the peoples hearts had changed- they wanted to be independent of God. It didn’t occur to me that the on lookers- christians, the Chief Priests and Scribes allowed it to happen. Likewise the cursing of the fig tree my interpretation of the word was the tree had the potential to bear fruit but didn’t and Jesus cursed it. God has called us to be holy for He is a Holy God and that we should produce good fruit- the fruit of the spirit. And that means to work at it because changes don’t take effect over night. I wonder if I’m an onlooker and if I’m productive for God. I work in a hospital and wonder if like Ezekiel walking along the dry and lifeless brook everything springs to life as he walked passed. I wonder if I make a difference, if the people in my care can see Jesus. But this has made me look at my whole spiritual life & relationship with God more deeply spending time with God, the enabling spirit, the Word, talking and listening to have faith as small as a mustered seed, Amen. Donnette
