The Scottish artist formerly known as Yvonne Whittey, now married since last year, has come up with this, her third CD, recorded in Glasgow. We are presented with an album full of atmosphere and passion. All the songs, as on her previous release 'Horizon Searching', are self-penned and show impressive songwriting craft. This gem is currently getting regular airplay on BBC Radio Scotland and deserves every bit. Kicking off the 10 tracks is the Fairground Attraction sounding "Colours" with husband David Lyon on accordion. Musically, at times Yvonne's haunting vocal phrasing is reminiscent of Julie Miller c. 'Orphans And Angels' while her lyrics tackle such issues as faith through hard times ("Mariana") and God's unconditional love ("Room Enough"). All in all a well rounded piece of roots/acoustic/pop from a hugely talented singer/songwriter with a very distinctive voice. On this basis I don't fear that we will not be hearing more of Mrs Lyon in the future.
