With nearly as high turnover of personnel as Petra, the newly reconstituted Whitecross bounce back onto our CD players with a disc that rock'n'rolls like a good tin. This is Scott Wenzel with three new guys to support him and in Quinton Gibson, he's found a guitarist to match plank spanking attack what he spits out in storming gutsy vocals. Heavy riffs abound but there are also the blues-influenced "When He Comes" and "Refuse To Love". "Eye To Eye" has an acoustic undercurrent without losing any rock energy. Producer David Zaffiro manages to pull out of the guys a performance which combines sheer power with deft touches of melody, demonstrated on the chorus of "End Of The Line" or "Already Done". But there is one song in this set which is an absolute awesome killer and that is "Get Real". It's a challenge to avoid the temptations of the flesh because they look attractive on the outside but rot the soul. This song is wrapped up in explosive guitar pyrotechnics and a pleading Wenzel vocal which tears you apart. Passion personified 'Flytrap' has enough musical moments to snare the avid rock fan. And deserves to!
