Wisconsin natives We Are Leo released their sophomore album 'Fightback Soundtrack' in 2014 on Dream Records. Following the success of that album they launched a remix contest on Soundcloud inviting DJs, producers and electronic musicians around the world to stamp their mark on tracks from the album. There was an overwhelming response and thus 'Fightback Soundtrack: The Remixes' was born featuring the best remixes from the contest. Of the eight tracks included on this record, three titles are featured twice with different remixes which is a little disappointing given there were 12 tracks to choose from on the original record. The opening remix of "Diamonds In The Dark" is a strong start bringing in a new depth and dynamic to the original and showing imagination to pull out the best elements of the track. The next two tracks fall short of this early standard however, adding very little to the original. The two remixes of "Pheonix" are the standout tracks with a heavy dubstep re-imagination providing a fresh perspective on what was arguably the strongest track on the original as well. Unfortunately the highlights are let down by too many tracks that stay safe and don't add anything new to the originals.
