After a break of four years and another change of label (from Warner Alliance back to Word), at last a new album from one of the high sellers of CCM. A little Word Bird tells me that Wayne has sold in excess of two million albums, which, whilst a piffling total compared to some of the mainstream megastars, is not to be sneered at. given the lower level of sales of CCM product. I'm pleased to see that Michael Omartian has been given sole production control; 'Field Of Souls', Wayne's last album suffered from a lack of continuity by having three different producers. and Wayne can concentrate on the singing and the songwriting, nine of the 10 being by him, with Omartian supplying music for three of them. Highly polished, catchy, tuneful pop music, the top session musicians in Nashville (how about Gordon Kennedy, Dan Huff and Jerry McPherson on guitars?). The big O's keyboards, and one of the best voices in US CCM all add up to a cracking 41 minutes' worth. No highlights, no lowlights on this one - just very good indeed all the way through.
