Wayne Watson never meant that much in the UK Christian marketplace. Even during his heyday from the late '70s to the late '90s his major popularity in the US Christian music scene didn't really translate over here. Maybe his vocal style, a rich, smooth baritone, was simply too middle of the road. Or maybe Wayne's lack of UK concerts meant he simply didn't register with the UK public. Now here's a fresh chance to re-evaluate the veteran's career for this set features re-recordings of many of the songs that made Wayne a favourite of US Christian radio. These new versions featuring stripped down acoustic arrangements with some deft guitar picking presumably from Wayne himself are beautifully executed and bring out the excellence of many of Wayne's original songs from 1988's 'Watercolor Ponies' through to 1995's 'Field Of Souls'. If you remember Wayne as a rather ersatz purveyor of bland Nashville God songs this sensitive album will be a revelation.
