Warren Barfield's self-titled debut album was released in 2003 to instant critical acclaim, earning him two Top 10 CCM chart singles and a tour supporting Third Day. Barfield evidently wrote the follow up, 'Reach', after a period of trial in his life, and its catchy pop hooks often mask reflective lyrics which appear tinged with hardship. There's a thread of honesty and realism running through this album - the opening line, for example, reads "there's a time in everyone's life when everything falls" - but it often goes unnoticed because of the dominating upbeat, acoustic rock feel. There's a natural warmth to 'Reach' and it mostly sounds like a good band playing together, rather than a group of session musicians backing a solo artist. Barfield knows how to write a proper sing-along chorus too, as showcased in standout track "Beyond The Walls". However, it does dip towards the end, which for a short album released after such a long break (it only has 10 tracks and it took almost three years) is a disappointment. All things considered though, this is probably one of the better American CCM records you'll hear this year.

Product Description
Few artists have the distinction of being described as 'fearless' by the producer of their second album but it perfectly describes Warren Barfield's approach to what some have called an artist's most daunting task. Through the effortless delivery of heartfelt lyrics and his signature rich textured vocal, Warren examines all areas and seasons of his life. It's this candid approach that draws the listener in as they explore their own personal journey.
Warren explains, 'This is my attempt to be honest about my own mistakes and my desire to be encouraged in the faith; as well as an attempt to encourage others to confess and love so that we can grow together.

I had seen a gospel show concert, which featured Warren
along with Rebecca St. James and others in 2006. I recall
hearing the song "Take My Life"; I made a connection to
Warren and his talent of music: this is great ccm. Warren
is credited with writing or co-writing every song on this
cd; wtg Warren!
I really like "Beyond the Walls" & "Closer". The very pop
flavored "Unleashed" is great sounding; great lyrics: I luv
the line " I'm just a raindrop in YOUR ocean": co-written
with ccm artist Scott Krippayne.
The title song "Reach" closes the songset, when most title
songs start off or are heard within the first couple #'s;
another great song! GOD Bless! -Don
