This up-and-coming North Carolina band have recently signed to Jacob's Well Records and this is their first EP, demonstrating their energetic rock sound. Their sound is comparable to the likes of Switchfoot, Third Day, Needtobreathe and Counting Crows. In other words, if you love excellent CCM rock Waiting Hill is definitely worth checking out. The band seeks to write about the experiences and struggles they experience as they strive to live a Christian life. The authentic lyrics shine through and when melded with some stellar arrangements and instrumentation you get a top-quality recording such as this. "Moving On" is a classic CCM rock number; "Sing" features a catchy melody as well as a soaring harmonica solo(!); and "Stand" is a slower song expressing the band's resolve to stand against the sin in the world and in their lives. This release serves as an appetiser to a full album release that has already been recorded, due out later this year. I for one am looking forward to it.
