"Doing the stuff" was a favourite phrase of Vineyard founder John Wimber; loosely translated, it equates to using the gifts of the Spirit in ministry and worship. Doing The Stuff is also a Vineyard conference, and this album was recorded in April 2000, with all the names that we have come to know and love from the three previous Vineyard Music UK albums, including Brenton Brown, Kathryn Scott, Michael and Helen Frye, Sharon Heap and Nigel Briggs. As an object lesson in how to record a quality live album, this is superb; even through my rather small car stereo speakers, the sound was crisp and clear, and by closing my eyes (not whilst I was driving, I hasten to add!) I could imagine myself in the auditorium. The material is a mix of old and new; opening track is Brian Doerksen's "Psalm 121" from 1990, there's a Kevin Prosch/Danny Daniels song from 1987, and arrangements of "When I Survey" and "I Surrender All" sitting alongside new songs from the Vineyard Music UK in-house writers. This is the best live worship album I've heard this year.
