The continuing dominance of Veggie Tales when it comes to kids music and TV ministry is well deserved and their success hasn't simply revitalised a very cheesy area of Christian culture (kids' ministry}, but has actually transformed the whole arena of video sales, since their stuff is so popular Stateside it's led to a huge leap in video sales generally! I have also to confess that I have been a long time admirer of their material (since the first vid) and my recent interview with Bob and Larry stands as one of the most moving interviews of my career, however this new album leaves me a little cold. Despite Larry-Boy's English butler Alfred's attempts at musical theatre, a lot of this really doesn't make sense without pictures! However the CD is redeemed by that dynamic superhero Larryboy's personal appearances. Firstly he introduces a couple of remixes - a soulful "Bumblyburg's Groove Remix" and the housey "Superhero Slim Down Remix". Hilarious! Flavour of the month, The Ws turn up as special guests performing "The Rumor Weed Song" and of course, you've got to enjoy another performance of the Larry-Boy theme tune. Throughout, the Python style humour shines through, and of course there's plenty of strong messages for kids without ever resorting to patronising preaching. Fun but not quite on target.
