This is the third release from Upperroom, the Dallas-based church, but this time around they've got global distribution thanks to the astute The Fuel Music. I'm certain this five-song EP will only expand further the reputation and impact of the throng which today totals around 100 vocalists, songwriters and musicians who are passionately committed to Jesus. Said Upperroom's pastor Michael Miller, "We really wanted to love him well. We wanted to set a table for him. God has brought some of the most gifted musicians, singers and worship leaders just to help steward this vision." Among them Meredith Mauldin, who leads Upperroom's songwriting efforts, and Elyssa Smith, who leads worship at the church's second location, in Denver. Said Mauldin of their artistic inspiration, "The power really comes from the Prayer Room. Basically, what we're doing is stewarding the songs that we're getting in the Prayer Room." The songs on this EP are wonderful and consistently stirring. And whether it's the opener "Tremble ftg Abbie Simmons" or the closer "Surrounded ftg Elyssa Smith" the effect is powerful and tender-hearted.
