After some 15 plus years with Kings X, Ty Tabor has decided to express himself independently of fellow band members Doug Pinnick and Jerry Gaskill. 'Moonflower Lane' is a paradox of sonic intensity with passages of subtle phrasing for which Ty is famous. Alan Doss plays drums, courtesy of the Galactic Cowboys, with guest appearances from fellow band mates Ben Huggins, Monty Colvin and Wally Farkas. Frank Hart (Atomic Opera) is also called upon to play cello, adding a different and interesting dimension to the music. Ty has not only written and produced the album, but also played bass, organ and percussion, making it a truly solo effort. Lyrically, Ty is as honest as always in his writing; from the exploration of inner turmoil and uncertainty ("Inside my window I imagine I'm a man/And I'm free/And I'm cool/And I'm not me" - "The Island Sea") to celebrating God's gift of life ("I Do", "Walk With My Love"). My personal favourite is "The Truth", where Ty wrestles with doubt, works through man's fallibility to finally seek the freedom of God found in Christ. This much anticipated solo project from one of the world's premier guitar players does not disappoint.
