Unless Twila Paris had her 'Platinum' period between 1982-4, and has written nothing of equal merit since, it's hard to figure out how these particular 10 songs could live up to the title. For Twila's fans it's perhaps a good thing that there's no overlap with 2003 budget collection '8 Great Hits', but you won't find the anthemic "God Is In Control" or worship classic "He Is Exalted" on either CD. Production is typical of the era - sounding like a toned-down Amy Grant ballad, "The Warrior Is A Child" is all synthesiser backing and sonorous drums, "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" is good for a sing-along, and some multi-layered vocals manage to add some richness to "We Will Glorify" and "Praise Him". However, the guitar-driven "Forever Eyes" seems to need a stronger voice - Twila just sounds out of her depth. And with their outdated MOR stylings "Do I Trust You" and "Keepin' My Eyes On You" should have remained in the archives. A compilation which will be enjoyed only by those who feel pangs of nostalgia for early 1980s US Christian soft pop.
