True Worshippers is based in Jakarta Praise Community Church and every year they release an album of live worship. This one is from 2007, recorded live in the Tennis Indoor Senayan, which is Jakarta's biggest indoor stadium. The lead singer is Sidney Mohede, currently the Youth Pastor of Oxygen, a youth church of JPCC. Mohede has started to make an impact outside Indonesia, with a trip to Texas and some collaboration with Hillsong Australia. Even though this is a live album, there is nothing raw about the sound. There is a high level of production throughout, resulting in a wrap-around sound that supports every song. The title track is a reflective, deeply worshipful song, beautifully arranged with strings - a simple song that slips easily under your skin. There is a nice mixture of upbeat and more peaceful songs and all feature the block harmonies produced by the large number of people on stage, which work well to back the lead vocal. Songs like "Amazing" feature a great bit of electric lead guitar from Daniel Sigarlaki. I can't argue with the lyrics - every song is unreserved praise and worship which must be fantastic at a live event like this with over 8,000 people and though some songs are a bit formulaic there is no doubting that this movement is directing many towards the living God. This is a double album, including a bonus DVD of the live worship.
