Tramaine's lived in the top layer of gospel artists for quite a while now, unerringly making albums of interest and artistic excellence. Not for her the well-worn path of hollerin' and carrying-on, though she can step out with the best. Her work encompasses a disciplined carefulness that cares as much for the song as for showing how well she can sing - not always the case with some artists. Seeing that "Amazing Grace" opens the set caused a slightly weary sigh, instantly corrected when the Tramaine tonsils draw out the full drama and power of said ditty. Afterwards, the programme offers warm ballads, splashes of soul, and a nod back to traditional gospel, even a duet with Mahalia Jackson! Smooth, pop-flavoured arrangements, generally good songs, classy album.
