Reviewed by Tony May A 90-minute video, featuring yet another member of the Hawkins horde, stepping forward to lead out a session of driving Black Gospel. Backing includes a 60 voice choir, meaty band, and guest attractions Carlos Santana, Stanley Turrentine & Jimmy McGriff, legends all. Must, however, take issue with the hype in Rev. Jesse Jackson's description of Tramaine as "one of the great voices of our day or any day." OK she's more than competent, but do we need such exaggeration? Shirley Caesar would blast her off the stage, vocally, as would about half the ladies in Milton Brunson's outfit. Still, in all, a cheery enough set, some genuinely exciting moments to counteract some rather syrupy patches, but I'm glad it was beefed up with the proverbial "cast of thousands", otherwise the artist's limitations would not have been covered up by her famous name, I'm afraid.
