Tourniquet's last album 'Vanishing Lessons' has only just hit the shops and here is a follow up EP of five songs. Renowned for the hardest of rock, this EP is something a little different. Shock! Horror! Probe! Tourniquet mellow out and write terribly affectionate love songs for their wives and girlfriends! "When Love Is Right" and "My Promise" show that these boys are all heart. What next? Songs on the new album for their mothers? There's even a cello and violin on one song here! But don't worry, the riff still lives. The title song trundles along nicely and has the sort of strong message that we've come to associate with these thinking rock fans' favourites. There's even a blistering cover version of Fleetwood Mac's ancient opus "Oh Well" that manages to stay afloat even with the spiritual re-write of the lyrics! And just to wrap up everything, there's the loose rock 'n' roll of "Heads I Win, Tails You Lose" which has a Spin Doctors feel to it. An interesting collection that shows that Tourniquet are more than just heads down no nonsense boogie.
