Something a little different from Mr Loeffler after all those eclectic roots music releases blending rock, country and folk. Suddenly the 'Hims' project reveals Tony in rootsy crooner guise! This is a worship album with a selection of classic hymns Loefflerised in gentle roots style! It's an historical and spiritual journey as you realise the lite experiences that inspired ordinary men and women to pen amazing hymns that have stood the test of time. Tony has done his research and on one version of this album narrates and introduces each hymn. However if you choose, there's a version which comes with full biographical details in the CD booklet revealing some of the amazing testimonies and stories behind these great hymns. These are all classics so songs like "Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus" rubs shoulders with "Jesus Loves Me" and "There Is Power In the Blood". Backed by many of his regular cohorts, the Blue Angels, this is top quality musicianship with plenty of deft touches from the band topped by Tony's' distinctive voice. Plenty to enjoy here and my favourites are the sax filled groove of "My Jesus I Love Thee" and the country tinged boogie of "The Old Rugged Cross". Looking forward to hearing some of these tunes played live at the Cross Rhythms festival!
