As I mentioned in my review of the CD by Aliosha (and will do again when I talk about the Maranatha project), these days Tony Loeffler is channelling all of his energies and no small amount of cash into his work with the suffering church in Cuba. This album is a spin-off from a single released by Sammy Mojica a few years back under the same title (and the same title track, translated "Cuba For Christ"), and it's full of delightful latino rhythms, excellent musicianship and clear Christian messages. Blue Angels Karen Sibilia and Jimmy Medina turn up to join in and Tony himself very bravely takes vocal duties in Spanish on seven tracks, some of which are translations of old Angels' classics such as "Touched By Love" and "See The Valley". Given the poverty-stricken nature of the Cuban economy, Tony gives these CDs away when he's there, but we in the affluent West have no excuses; dig deep and buy this, it's a good album in a good cause, and even if your Spanish is as bad as mine, you'll find blessing from it.
