Gradually Toronto's Thousand Foot Krutch have shifted stylistically from being an out-and-out rapcore band to a modern rock team with rapcore tinges and in the process have become one of America's most popular CCM acts. This latest set, nimbly produced by Arnold Lannie (Our Lady Peace, King's X) extends further the band's appeal while showing that Trevor McNevan is today one of the most arresting frontmen in Christian rock. The title track is a gem, a powerful exhortation to die to self while the first single from the project, the opener "Absolute", has a strong hook and a memorable message to hold on to absolutes in the humanistic chaos that surrounds us. Maybe long term fans of TFK will feel the band have wimped out as they've moved away from the hard music underground. But more fans are daily joining the group's support base. Long may Toronto's finest deliver such powerful and uplifting rock.
