Out of Monaghan, Ireland, comes one of a rare breed of worship album - one that sounds like it actually belongs in this decade. 'The Light That Floods', the debut from The Remission Flow, while retaining some of the turn of the millennium soft-rock influences that have characterised what we think of as contemporary Christian music, shows that this is a band rooted firmly in the present, with tracks "Your Word" and "Psalm 121" echoing bands like Kings Of Leon and Snow Patrol, while also making it clear that they are looking to the future - the three-minute tour de force that is "Light Up" evokes the fresh excitement of still up-and-coming bands like The Joy Formidable. The lyrics rarely fall back on cliché, backed up by a group of musicians who play with an impressive sensitivity to the needs of the song, rather than their own egos, completed by production as solid as a fossilised toffee. While not every song quite stands out as those already mentioned, it's obvious that this is a band with a great deal of potential, and they deserve every good thing that comes their way as a result of this release.
