The OC Supertones have been around for a little while and 'Loud And Clear' is their fourth album and. This time they have teamed up with producer Neill King (Elvis Costello and the Buzzcocks) who has helped the band keep their fun-loving side while blending their influences very naturally. To quote the bass player, Tony Terusa, "Our sound shouldn't be categorised by whatever our most prominent influences might be. Rather, the moulds that define the Supertones are energy, excitement and fun." They really do seem to have achieved those aims with 'Loud And Clear'. The album is full of high energy songs with everything from hip hop to ballads tinged with a large hint of rock guitar coming through everywhere. The quality of the music is not let down by the lyrics either which certainly do not pull any punches. This quality extends to the sleevenotes which give insights into the songs and a seriously silly set of group photos that will have you guessing their influences - including Spinal Tap! Definitely an album to get if you like your music with energy and fun.
