Far from being just another collection of tunes churned out by a band who have been releasing albums since 1992, this latest masterpiece by The Kry feels as fresh and powerful as if they were just starting out. 'You Shine' is a powerful album that just seems to flow in a way that causes you to shun any 'shuffle' or 'random' playing functions on your audio equipment and to listen to it only in the order that was intended. "Help Me Stand" is an excellent high tempo opener in which Jean-Luc Lajoie's bluesy vocals let you know instantly that this is going to be a heart moving listening experience and any lingering doubts to this end are removed by the second track "Can You? (Love)" with its driving bass grooves and euphoric chorus. "Nothing In This World" marks the beginning of a more serene and positive direction that hits a sweet spot with "Reign On" where the alternating time signature has a powerful effect as it lifts to a chorus that could easily be an international worship anthem. The whole thing comes to a gentle lulling conclusion with the restful "Reach You Where You Are" in which the frontman's Québécois accent gives the ending a certain je ne sais quoi. To try and categorise 'You Shine' as a whole it would feel most appropriate to describe this as driving rock not dissimilar to Snow Patrol. A fine return from a top rate band.
