French Canadian rockers The Kry release their fourth album (though only the second released in the UK) and we see a bit of a shift in style. Their first two releases were AOR/power rock, with an unplugged release of their biggest songs coming out a couple of years ago. 'What About Now' sees the band find a new label and style with a more modern rock feel akin to Hootie And The Blowfish, fellow Canadians 100 Days and even Third Day. Melodic, well crafted songs with a rootsy guitar base are the trademarks of this talented band. Most of the tunes are up tempo, driven rockers with the occasional acoustic ballad. Production is handled by John Andrew Schreiner. Lyrics are very explicitly and directly Christian. I never realised how big these guys were across the Atlantic until a group of Americans recently visited our church and they were all singing along to The Kry. Their popularity has grown through hard work and relentless touring over there. I recommend you too get into this talented Canadian trio.
