There are one or two excellent songs here on the latest from the country/gospel harmonizers - Andrew Peterson's "Labour Of Love" surely being one of the best Christmas songs penned for years and the deft mandolin if Sonya Isaacs and the elegant piano of Gordon Mote ensure the accompaniments are skilfully executed. But there are also a slew of Santa schlock songs which might hit the target with the middle of the road Gaither audience but leave this reviewer running for cover. So unless the thought of countrified versions of "Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus Is Real" are of particular appeal to you, I suggest you look elsewhere for your Christmas music as we ponder once again why top Christian music talents creatively lose it so spectacularly at Christmas.
