This cassette single by a Hampshire three-piece contains the title track and "(You Said You'd) Break My Heart". Presentation is decent enough, with the inlay card being computer designed; thankfully the contents match the packaging. It's obviously a pro studio job, with a high recording standard and a great drum sound, but what of the music itself? The Electric Revival fall squarely into the 80s effects-laden guitar rock genre exemplified by U2, Big Country and early Split Level, with frontman Tim Sherrington managing to sound like both The Edge and Bono, underpinned by an excellent rhythm section. Although "Changing Everything" is a competent rock song in itself (have you been listening to "The Fly" recently, fellas?), it's the latter of the two songs which really staged a sit-in in the ol' grey matter. A more catchy song I haven't heard in a while! One problem: this band are clearly gifted, but on this tape there's little to distinguish them from the many bands of this ilk. However, I can see them going down a storm at colleges; if they can develop their own sound as well, this bunch have got a great future. Investigate.
