The DC Project began in early 2006 and is a collective of musicians formed from a number of churches across the country including Living Hope Church, Amblecote Christian Centre and Calvary Church. It must have been a big task to bring this all together and I can but admire Linsey Prince, Pete Hopper and their band for making this happen. The collective aspect of the band however does present some issues which are evident across the album, where the overall audio presentation can be a little unbalanced (eg, the over-prominent drums on most tracks) which does some potentially great songs few favours. The tracks commence with "Kingdom Of Heaven", a light pop song which although lyrically good sounds just a little dated with '80s style guitar riffs which are not all that smooth. I also found that a few of the vocal harmonies had some rough edges. The second track "This Journey" however does pull things together better with a relaxed ballad pace and a more even production balance between the instruments. Sadly though, this balance is lost again in "Calm The Storm", which again whilst having some powerful words is overpowered by some slightly dodgy synth effects and a very tinny sound which gives a distinct "garage studio" flavour overall. Overall, that the slower tracks such as "Immune" and "Wings To Fly" worked much better than the faster ones. But despite all the vision and good intentions 'Without Fear' has too many deficiencies for me to be able to recommend it.
