Reviewed by Howard McCalla Seen by many as the most powerful gospel hip-hop group on the scene, this DVD is a reflection of their lyrics and approach - hard-hitting and expressive. A crowd of 3,500 supporters have gathered at the Chapel of Philadelphia for an evening of inspirational artistry. The evening begins with a narrated journey into the world of hip-hop and highlights different eras within the hip-hop arena, which are a prelude to The Cross.Movement's entrance. From the dynamism of a talented DJ scratching on his decks to full-on breakdancing (don't try this one at home though!), to the fluidity of the MC you are kept right in the midst of the action. As The CM take the stage the crowd erupt and there is a clear vibe in the air. From "Who's The Man" from their debut album through to "I Am" ('House Of Representatives'), the crowd are rocking, jumping and "getting in the mix". If you need a workout - maybe start here. The two biggest sets are from their latter two albums and it's great to see how the guys interact. Mid-way through, the DVD features some guest artists from their label, Da' T.R.U.T.H., Flame, J-Silas and R-Swift who equally make an impact with the crowd. The Cross Movement are clearly in their element and show just how to minister and be hip at the same time. They have no doubt about whom they serve and have no qualms about their approach, dropping beat after beat with tight lyrics and the mix of live band and tracks worked really well. Encouraging, hard-hitting, funny, inspirational, spiritual are all words that could describe the evening (as well as "phat" and "off da hook") and rightly so. An evening mixed with some of the best hip-hop styles and sounds on the planet as well as the undisputed word of God.
