The farewell release from Kentucky's multi award winning Southern gospel group The Crabb Family (well, five of the 10 band members are Crabbs!). Country-imbued Southern gospel performed by a younger outfit for a younger audience, 'Letting Go' is stylistically varied. There's a convincing stab at a trad gospel vibe ("You Saved Me") and more than a hint of blue eyed soul ("Give You Praise") while performance-wise this is a tight set with some effective harmonies and strong leads. Also, there is thankfully little evidence of the sort of sentimentality which often pervades the Southern gospel genre. The album concludes with the instrumental country gospel "Holy Ghost Stomp" which, how do I put this, stomps!
