These four sisters from Detroit are, of course, pioneers in "crossover" gospel so it's particularly galling that this "definitive" collection doesn't contain their stone classic "You Bring The Sunshine". But then that wasn't on Word, and the compilations in this series look no further than that one label. Still, there are some good cuts here from their three albums 'Bringing It Back Home' (1990), 'Conqueror' (1988) and 'Heart & Soul' (1986), the Clark sound is very evident with soft deep vocals on some tracks and others guaranteed to get your toes tapping. The high pitch notes and melismas - runs of many notes on one syllable - are a pleasure to hear along with the classy rich harmonies of their vocals and how the audience responds on the live tracks. If you don't have the source albums you may want to investigate.
