Originally released in 1983, this is a CD re-release by a group who are legendary pioneers of what was to evolve into Southern gospel. The 10 songs are all very good and personally I knew most of them from previous gospel albums or in the case of one or two less familiar items, eg, "From The Cross To The Crown" from bluegrass or country albums. The group comprises of two female and two male vocalists, the accompaniment is very minimal, just a guitar and bass and the singing is in the Gang's classic country harmony style. The only drawback is that with many of these familiar items, "Standing On The Promises", "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "Bringing In The Sheaves", there are so many other recordings of these that it is hard for me to state that you should rush out and buy the Gang's readings of these evergreens. Very pleasant but not truly outstanding.
