My first impressions weren't that good - too mellow for my liking. "Salamander" kicks off the CD in an easy, laid back style and is a highlight after one or two listens. Standout tracks include "Away With The Swine", "The Ocean" and "If You're Listening", which is a slow moody song with lyrics that soothe the soul. "I'd rather be forgiven than enlightened...grace is a gift more refined than magic dust/Mercy a quality more divine than trust." "Butterfly" is another good track with shades of the Beatles perhaps? The Choir lyrics are as always deep and a mixture of blatant and subtle references to the Christian life and musically they are not afraid to experiment and try things out of the ordinary - the guitar beginning on "The Chicken" was an extremely nice touch. I think The Choir fans will receive this offering with open arms and maybe they'll pick up some new ones too.
