'City Of God' is the debut album for husband and wife duo Jonathan and Britney Cashman. With an already established ministry and some top notch production behind them in the form of Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets) and Barry Weeks (Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys) this album has a lot to live up to. The opening title track has an awesome cello intro and almost Rend Collective skiffle feel leading into "All Things New" which would not be out of place on an Amy Grant album - not totally surprising as Sarah Hunt co-wrote the song and writes with Amy. Overall, the album has a contemporary country feel although there's a wide mix of styles and influences coming through and Jonathan's and Britney's voices blend well. The album closes with two tracks remixed and both the songs' dance makeovers work surprisingly well. Overall an excellent debut.
