Last year's '...again' ('98), the band's debut release for Grrr, heralded the return of The Blamed after a three year hiatus and the promise of a new dawn for the band. With 'Forever', Brian Grey (guitar/vocals), Jim Chaff in (drums), Jeff Locke (bass) and newcomer Matt Switaj .vocals/guitar} emerge with a stunning follow up; far surpassing both '...again' and much of the current material found within the modern 'lard music scene. 'Forever' is much more focused in terms of musical identity and, whilst technically as intense as their previous work, is more diverse and less predictable in nature. Producer Roy Montroy [Rez Band) has done a fine job in helping the band realise a little more of their potential this time round, with a fine set of intelligently written and structured songs, tackling such issues as prejudice ("Pistol Whipped"), indifference toward others ("Dissonance"), the state of self ("Conversations hi The Mirror") and the nature of God ("Forever"). An intense musical and lyrical journey awaits all those who venture a spin of 'Forever', The Blamed's finest recording to date.
