Terrance Palmer is an A list bassist that has played for prominent gospel artists including Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin. 'Love Letter' is his first release in his own right. It starts with the poem, "Love Letter" recited by his wife Diane. She shares what might be considered as the objective of the album: "Let this be a reminder of our love and his [God's] love. On this album there is a mix of R&B/gospel songs and smooth jazzy instrumental pieces." "Latin Groove" sounds just like its name and has a bit of a Carlos Santana tinge to it. Elsewhere, the vivacious "What If" has a fantastic electric guitar solo by Eric Brice. Palmer's skill is not limited to bass playing; on this album he plays an array of instruments as well as producing and writing most of the songs. Regrettably, the lyrics of "Get To Know You" come across as commonplace, but the gospel tracks "He Won't" and "Head Over Heels" are more promising. The album ends with a worship medley including Gary Sadler's "Lord I Thirst For You", Marty Nystrom's "As The Deer" and Peter Sanchez's "I Exalt Thee". Palmer's jazz interpretations show his ability to give the material a new vibe.
