It is now over 10 years since Alvin Chea, Claude McKnight III, Joey and Mark Kibble, Cedric Dent and David Thomas first committed their unique blend of jazz, gospel, doo-wop, R&B and acappella onto disc, and they've been at the cutting edge ever since. And in that time they've covered an awful lot of ground. They did a cracking Christmas album in 1991 (I dig my copy out every year for airplay); they were involved in the 'Handel's Messiah; A Soulful Celebration' thing, and they've performed on the sound track of the hit film Boyz 'N' The Hood. This compilation, whilst missing some killer cuts from the six albums to their credit, includes the stone classics "I L-O-V-E U", "So Much 2 Say" and "Spread Love", along with the Boyz 'N' The Hood and Handel's Messiah tracks, and two brand new unreleased items. "One And The Same" with CeCe Winans is a slow soulful ballad, and the other, the wonderfully named "The Best Stuff In The World Today Cafe", is typical Take 6, punching home gospel truth with a funky rhythm and those characteristic tight harmonies.
