In 12 years, humble San-Diego based band Chin Up have become the hugely globally successful five-piece known as Switchfoot. The compilation kicks off with "Dare You To Move", undoubtedly the band's most popular song, followed by their other big hit "Meant To Live". The opening tracks hurl us into the raw energy Switchfoot generate, but the band's deeply spiritual lyrics are never lost in the frenzy. Then, about half a dozen tracks in, we're reminded of the band's ability to gently touch our spiritual nerves and break our hearts with beautiful ballads, such as in the powerful "On Fire". Then, Switchfoot's heavier side thunders out with blues-rock-stomper "Dirty Second Hands". The final third of the album provides a fantastic variation of textures, showing Switchfoot's diversity, with the album culminating spectacularly in one of the band's biggest and deepest numbers, "The Beautiful Letdown". By the end, we know that no band can inspire you to raise your voice, clap your hands, examine your heart and rock out in the space of one album like Switchfoot can.
